Common troubleshooting methods for mud pumps

Pump vibration ▲ Causes: The pump shaft is not concentric with the diesel engine (or motor), the impeller is unbalanced, and the bearing is damaged; Solution: Adjust the concentricity, conduct a balance test on the impeller, and replace the bearings. Slow water supply to the pump ▲ Reasons: Large gap between the front liner and the impeller, the outlet pipe cannot seal the air, and the pump is fully emptied. Solution: Adjust the gap, adjust the outlet pipe, and install a vacuum device. The pump fails to draw water. Reasons: Insufficient priming water, air inside the pump cannot be discharged, air leakage in the suction pipe, large gap between the front liner and the impeller. The original solution: Continue to fill with water, check if there is any air leakage in the pipeline, and adjust the gap between the impeller and the front liner. The outlet water pressure is low and the flow rate is small. Reasons: There is air in the pump, the gap between the impeller and the front liner is large, the clutch is not tightly closed, and the impeller or liner is worn. Solution: Empty the gas in the pump, adjust the clearance of the clutch friction plate, and replace the impeller or liner. The pump wears out quickly. Reasons: Poor construction environment (with large particles), long conveying distance, and long inlet pipeline. Solution: Replace the sand field, add a booster unit, and shorten the length of the water inlet pipe to reduce cavitation. The impeller shaft journal wears out quickly. ▲ Reasons: Low head of the high-pressure water pump, misaligned packing, and the pump shaft and the rear cover are not concentric. Solution: Replace the high-pressure pump with a head higher than that of the mud pump, replace the packing, and adjust the concentricity.
